Canine Therapies Academy

Canine Therapies Academy was relaunched in 2015 after over 30 years delivering hydrotherapy treatment to dogs. We provide specialised training in canine hydrotherapy, offering hands-on experience and a personalised approach for those seeking a fulfilling career. Our courses are regulated by Ofqual and recognised by all main industry associations.

As one of the first canine hydrotherapy centres in the UK, we combine a well-qualified education team with modern facilities to offer high-quality training that empowers professionals to support dogs' health, mobility, and wellbeing.

Whether you're starting fresh, changing direction, or expanding your existing skills, our specialist training courses open the door to a rewarding future in canine care. At Canine Therapies Academy, we offer flexible, industry-recognised qualifications in hydrotherapy and pet first aid designed to give you the knowledge, confidence, and hands-on experience needed to make a real difference to the lives of dogs and their owners.

Level 3  Certificate in Canine Hydrotherapy

the ideal starting point for those new to the industry or looking to change career paths. This qualification is fully industry-recognised and prepares you to deliver safe, effective clinical hydrotherapy.

  • Practical training takes place at RISE Canine Hydrotherapy & Rehab in Tarleton.

Practical training is at RISE Tarleton. Theory sessions are held at Canine Therapies Academy in Preston.

9 mandatory units
10 days of practical attendance (minimum of two visits)

To join this course, you must have completed either:

Advanced  Aquatic Treadmill Course

  • The optional unit “Hydrotherapy Treadmill Therapy for Small Animals” (Level 3 Diploma), or

  • The optional unit “Introduction to Aquatic Treadmill Practice” (Level 3 Certificate)

3 days attendance at the training centre

You’ll learn how to recognise, prevent, and respond to a variety of health issues and first aid situations.

Small Animal  Health & First Aid Course

This hands-on, in-depth course is designed for pet owners, professionals, and anyone who wants to be prepared for emergencies.

What You’ll Learn:

Recognising signs of illness and injury
Poisoning and choking response
Basic pet anatomy and vital signs
Heatstroke, shock, and seizure management
CPR and emergency response techniques
Handling common emergencies with confidence
Wound care and bandaging
